Glow plugs for electric heating engines

A glow plug, also known as a hot plug or hot head, is equipped with non-conductive insulation material between its core and shell, and a spring shaped resistance wire is connected between the core and shell. The glow plug is installed on the cylinder head of the engine. Before starting, a low-voltage power supply is indirectly connected to the core and shell of the glow plug. When the current flows through the resistance wire, the resistance wire is in a red hot state. The combustible mixture entering the cylinder is compressed as the piston rises, causing the temperature to rise. In addition to the heat of the glow plug, the temperature of the mixture reaches its self ignition point. Therefore, combustion begins, producing high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which drives the piston to work.
